Miles for a Mission

•Pastor Cory Estby of Zion Lutheran and Pastor Kyle Timmons of St. Peter’s UCC teamed up to walk, jog, and run the 20-miles between The Fort’s future location in Kankakee, IL to St. Peter’s UCC in Grant Park, IL on Sunday, March 20th, 2022.

The two set a goal of raising $5,000 towards the capital campaign for the new facility scheduled to open in October of 2022. The amount raised was over $8,500!

To talk to either of the pastors about their journey, or to learn more about the Fort, you may contact either one of them at the information listed below. Or, if you’d like to learn more about volunteering at the Homeless shelter, providing meals, or simply financially giving towards the project.

Last year, they spearheaded a friendly competition between their two Grant Park churches, collectively raising about $12,000!

They each participated in our Night on the Street last year, sleeping in tents in April. This year, these guys are upping the game big-time to support construction of our new shelter The Fort.

Miles for a Mission will take place overnight on February 18 with both Pastors tag-teaming to complete the 20-mile walk from Grant Park to our new shelter property at 155 N. Washington!

The walk will begin at 5pm and last throughout the night. They hope to raise $5,000 for our Capital Campaign (100% profit for us!) but we think they can definitely raise more.

No competition between churches this year, just a friendly collaborative effort. Look for their story in the Daily Journal within the week.
