The Giddiness of God

Written by Pastor Kyle Timmons

“He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord delights in those who fear Him, those who wait for His loving kindness. “- Psalm 147:10-11

I have several facebook friends who love posting pictures of beautiful animals; especially birds.

The magnificent colors of the feathers are astounding and often indescribable.

God’s beautiful and wonderful creation is all around us! Scripture teaches that God spoke the world into existence. In Genesis we see God’s creation put into place step-by-step in a well planned, orderly sense.

But does that mean that God created the heavens and the earth and all the beauty within it and then stopped? Or, did He just rest? Is He still active in creation?

I love this thought from G.K. Chesterton in one of his writings:

“Is it possible that God says every morning, ‘Do it again’ to the sun; and every evening, ‘Do it again’ to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. It may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.” (p. 61, Orthodoxy, by G.K. Chesteron, Harold Shaw Publishers, 1994).

I can just see God getting all giddy, all excited each and every day as with the whisk of His mighty Hand He sets a new sunrise into motion, or a new sunset in place. As each created being is crafted in His design, God giggles and smiles on His throne and says, “It is Good!”

However, even with as giddy as God gets with each sunrise, each beautiful creature, each budding flower, He gets even more giddy over His precious children!

Each child that is born into this world must make God weep for joy seeing another miraculous gift placed into the hands of earthly parents. And when that child grows up, the Bible says God becomes even more delighted when they have a holy, reverent fear of Him and place their faith in Him and wait on His loving kindness (Psalm 147:10-11).

Child of God – God was giddy when He created YOU! God is giddy each and every day as you grow at the delight of WHO He created! When you live your life in obedience to Him and give Him back to Him via worship and surrender He just can’t stop His giddiness.
