Making Memories

(Day 4 – Contemplating Ravi Zacharias’ quotes)

Every day is a new adventure!

What are you doing each day to etch into life your imprint?

Is it something positive or something negative.

Zacharias shares of an interesting conversation he had with a random gentleman in one of his books.

“I remember the time an older man asked me when I was young, ‘Do you know what you are doing now?’ I thought it was some kind of trick question.

‘Tell me,’ I said.

‘You are building your memories,’ he replied, ‘so make them good ones.’”

Walking from East to West: God in the Shadows, Zacharias

I recall a story from the Gospels when Jesus was a young boy.

It is the story of when Jesus ran ahead of his parents and went to the synagogue. His parents thought they had lost Him, but they eventually caught up to Him and this is what they said:

“When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house? But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.”

Luke 2:48-50

Notice the last part of this text.

His mother, Mary, treasured all these things in her heart. She allowed this experience to become a treasured memory.

What memories do you treasure? What memories do you want to have when you are older? Memories worth treasuring or memories of things you’d rather forget?
