Are you a Courageous Christian?

May 15, 2020 By: Kyle Timmons Topic: Uncategorized Scripture: Joshua 1

Can you imagine having to follow in the footsteps of someone famous?

After the death of Moses, a young man named Joshua was called by God to replace the leadership of Moses and continue the journey of the Israelites through the desert into the promised land.

Talk about big shoes to follow.

It is possible that Joshua took the responsibility without a second thought; however, he must have had a little trepidation knowing that he still had to lead a large contingent of people across the Jordan River into a new land.

Whether Joshua experienced uneasiness, or not, we know that the Word of the Lord offered him a sense of relief and calm.

“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.  Be strong and very courageous.”

Joshua 1:6-7

It is easy to tell someone to be strong and courageous, but how does one do that?

God’s word says to be careful to obey all the law, to not turn from it at all, to keep it always on your lips, meditate on it day and night, and be careful to do everything written in it.

Along with following those instructions came a promise.

God promised that if Joshua did those things he would be prosperous and successful.

When Joshua found himself walking in obedience with God his life was good.  He lived within the peace of knowing he was following God’s will for him.

Are you looking for courage?  Follow God, be obedient to him, keep His words on your lips, and do not stray from what it teaches.

May God grant you success and prosperity!
