Advent Day 28 (Christmas Eve)

It’s Christmas Eve!

I know many of you have plans with family and friends; however, I encourage you to find a place to worship today and/or tomorrow.

At St. Peter’s in Grant Park, IL we invite you to join us at 4 pm or 7 pm today, or Christmas Day at 10:30 to worship Christ the newborn King.

Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas

I am reminded again of the words Mary sang in the Magnificat.

“My soul glorifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.”

As I reflect on these words again this Advent I can’t help but hear and feel the excitement and joy in Mary’s soul.

She was like a child at the first Christmas – (wait, in most ways she was).  You know what I mean.

The eager anticipation of birthing the Savior of the world should be a joyous event, but so should every Christmas.

When we retell the Christmas story we are giving “new birth” of the Good News to the world around us.

We need to be reminded of the Christmas story often – it’s a story of God’s LOVE for us even when we feel like we aren’t WORTH it.

The world needs to hear it as well.

Be brave in sharing it.  Be joyful in telling it.  Be loving in living it.

Prayer:  Oh, that I may feel the excitement and joy that I experienced as a child, O God.  That the anxiousness of Christmas morning and the hope I had that caused me to stir in my bed all night in wait of what Christmas had in store would return to me as I wait for Your Son Jesus to return for me.  May this Christmas be different!  May this Christmas allow me to experience You like never before.  Amen.
